Who can change settings
Settings needs "Change company and sign-in settings" to edit. In a new company that is the Controller and the CEO. Others who can open the page see it read-only. Each field saves when you leave it, with a "Saved" message.
The cards
| Card | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Company | The company name, and the time zone that business hours, time limits and reminders run in. |
| Your look | Your own logo at the top of every page instead of the Asphalt OS one, and the accent colour the app draws its buttons in. See Your company's look. |
| Pricing defaults | Minimum job, mobilization, sales tax, the estimate range, the mix density, whether estimates are texted automatically when they are sent, and the suggested add-on. See Services and pricing. |
| Reminders | Invoice terms (30 days) and the invoice reminder (5 days before due), the overdue notice (on), the bill reminder (3 days before due) and the subcontractor COI warning (30 days before it expires). See Invoices and Bills and payroll. |
| Quote terms | The terms on the customer's quote page and in the estimate PDF, for the whole company or per brand. Every signature keeps the exact words agreed to; changing them retires the quote links already out, and the card says which estimates to send again. See Estimates. |
| Weather | The rain warning (50%), too cold to pave (below 50°F), too hot (above 95°F) and too windy (20 mph). The heat limit must be above the cold limit. Which forecast service is used is chosen on Connections. See The schedule. |
| Company mailbox | Whether the mailbox that feeds the shared inbox is connected, the last sync and any error, with Sync now and Stop reading the mailbox. See The shared inbox. |
| Sign-in rules | Read-only here: the session timeout. They are changed on Team & security. |
The numbers in brackets are what a new company starts with.

If the background worker stops
Everything Asphalt OS does on its own (the follow-ups after a click, every email and text, the two-factor setup codes, invitations and online payments) is done by a background worker, never by the app server. The worker checks in every 10 seconds. If it stops, or falls behind, the people who can change company settings see a red line on every page: "The background worker has not checked in for ... minutes. Until it is running again, follow-ups (tasks, pings, texts, PDFs), emails and online payments wait", or that it is running but behind, with how many follow-ups have waited more than five minutes and how many online payments more than two. Nothing can email or text you about it, because the worker is what would send it.
The server restarts the worker by itself. If the line stays, ask whoever runs your server to look at its log. Nothing is lost in the meantime: the waiting work runs once the worker is back.
