The equipment list
Equipment shows your units with four counts on top: Units, Due for service (within 50 hours or 1,000 miles, or overdue), Out of service, and On a job today. Tabs: All units, Due for service and Out of service.
+ Add unit asks for the name and kind (Paver, Roller, Milling machine, Dump truck, Crew truck, Van, Sealcoat unit, Skid steer, Striper, Trailer or Other), whether the meter counts hours or miles, the meter now, the service interval (blank for no plan), the meter at the last service, the make, model, year and plate, and whether it needs a CDL to drive.
A unit's page
Open a unit to see its meter, next service, service interval, last service, last reading, days on a job this month and home crew. Tabs: Meter log, Maintenance, Deployments and Incidents.
- Log reading: a reading can't go below the last one, can't be in the future or more than 7 days back, and is never edited or deleted.
- Maintenance: record a Service, a Repair or an Inspection, with the date, meter, shop and description. Only a Service resets the next service point: that reading plus the interval.
- Deployments: put the unit on a day's job in the next two weeks. The days it spent on jobs add up to its days deployed.
The cost of maintenance shows only to people who can see job costs or money, or who manage equipment and service.
Service reminders
A unit reads "Service overdue" (red), "Due for service" (amber, within 50 hours or 1,000 miles), "Service OK" or "No service plan". When service comes due, VP Operations gets one task per service point, with an alert: due in 3 days when it is coming up, now when it is overdue. Recording the service closes the task.
Out of service
Take out of service asks why, then Confirm out of service. Back in service reverses it. A unit that is out of service can't be put on a job until it is back.
A retired unit takes no new readings or services and can't be put on jobs.
Managing units needs "Log meters and service and take units out of service" (VP Operations and the Dispatcher in a new company).
